In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. It usually starts in childhood or adolescents.


Type 1 diabetes is considered an autoimmune disorder that involves:

• Beta cells(produce insulin) in the pancreas are slowly destroyed and causes a deficiancy in insulin

• Blood glucose in the body become very very high, this is CALLED hyperglycamia!! woohoo


• The body then cannot use the sugar for further uses.

• It then spills into the urine and remove from the body
  
• Patients with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin everyday to survive!!

Here are some of the symptoms!

- Frequent urination

- Excessive thirst

- Extreme hunger

-Sudden weight loss

- Extreme fatigue

- Irritability

- Blurred vision

-Nausea and Vomitting

The Risk Factors! Beware!!

Males and females are equally at risk! Most typical in adolescence.

• Being ill during early infancy

• Having a parent with type 1 diabetes

• Having an old mother

• Having a mother who had peeclampsia!! during pregnancy

• Having OTHER autoimmune disorders! e.g. graves disease, hashimoto's thyroiditis...etc

Complications....very serious!!! be cautious!

• It reduces lifespan by about 5-8 years!!! OMG!!

• Good control of blood glucose!

• Keep HbA1c levels below 7%! - this can help to prevent complications due to vascular abnormalities and nerve damage that can cause damage to organs

• Manage risk factors for heart. Blood gucose control helps the heart

• People with diabets must also control that blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and other factors associated with heart disease.
